Welcome to Legacy Lodge

We purchased Legacy Ranch in September 1996 for our family.  We set out to build a place for our children and grandchildren to contrast our traditions and time-tested family values and the world’s noise.

There are three homes on Legacy Ranch.  The cabin was the first and sat close to the original homestead.  The cabin is where we spent our first few years making the ranch our second home.  We contracted Pioneer Log Homes out of Canada and completed the Lodge in the fall of 2000.  The barn wood is from the scorched logs surrounding the ranch after the devastating Rodeo/Chediski fire in June 2002.  It was completed in 2003.

Love, connection, memories, and healing is the centerpiece of everything we hope you will experience here at the ranch.

General Information for Your Stay

Legacy Ranch Power and Water

Our power is from the sun with occasional help from our generator. Please be mindful of the lights.  If not being used, please turn them off.  Our water is the same way. It operates with a solar pump and a generator.  You do not need to limit your water, just make sure the faucets are shut.

Fencing on Property

We have fences that section off different parts of the ranch.  We have friendly llamas that like to wander.  Please do not open any of the gates.  If you get aggressive or try to catch them, they will spit on you, so just be warned!

Good Bad Dirt Road

The road leads to a beautiful, peaceful ranch, but it’s also 8 miles of dirt.  Please let all guests driving know.  Though the way is not that rough, certain cars may have a hard time.

Wildlife

The forest is abundant with wildlife.  We often see Elk, Deer, Javelina, Rabbits, Skunks, Birds, and Bats. There have been Mountain Lion and Bear sightings in the past in the area.  We have never had any issues.  With that said, please be aware of your surroundings.

Bats

If you are here in the winter, there are no bats.  They migrate back to the forest during the summer season.  We have gone through expensive mitigation to eliminate them coming into the building.  Open doors while you sleep could invite them in.  Please cool off the rooms while you are still up and use fans while you sleep.

Screen Doors

We have installed retractable screen doors to help cool off the lodge in the summer and keep the bats out.  Please feel free to use them.  Warning, they are very hard to see!!!  Please use caution during the summer months not to run into them.  If you have broken a screen please let Francsico know.

Pond

The pond is for Legacy Lodge guests only.  Please ensure that there are adults supervising the entire time!

Furniture

Do not move furniture.

Pets

We do have a lovely SunRoom where your pet can spend the evening in a kennel provided by us.  We also have a large kennel at the base of the entry barn stairs.

Kitchen

  • Pantry - We keep all the cleaning and cooking supplies for the ranch here.  Please feel free to draw from the reserves as needed.  If we have run out of something, please leave that information with Tenney Property Management.  There is an empty shelf rack for the food specifically for storing your dry food products.
  • Refrigerator/Freezer - We have two full refrigerators and one full freezer.  They fit a lot of food so don’t hesitate to buy the things you might need.  Again, we do not have an ice maker, so bring your ice if you think you will need it.
  • I have painstakingly organized the cabinets and drawers for your use and my inventory efforts.  Baking items are together; bowls are together, electric griddles are together, coffee pots/machines are together...you get the idea.  Please wash and return any dishes you use.
  • Please feel free to use the spices etc.  You may want to check expirations!  If they are old, please toss them and leave a note for the property managers.
  •  There is a Kitchenaid drying rack under the kitchen by the window.
  • The games and puzzles are all in the drawers by the main frig in the kitchen.  If you find some games are not complete, please leave them out with a note.
  • The water faucets seem fancy at first and then can be very frustrating.  To turn on the water, just pull the lever out.  Forward is hot, straight up.  To activate, you have to touch any part of the faucet.  If you can’t get the water to flow, it means the batteries under the sink are dead.  We will make sure there are fresh batteries, but in case the water does not turn on, call Francisco, and he can replace them.  The AA batteries are in the drawer next to the main frig.  The casing that holds the batteries is in the cabinet below.  They have long wires so you can bring them out of the cabinet for ease of replacement.
  • The top of the built-in cabinetry is locked.  That holds our items.  The bottom is full of bowls, waffle irons, griddles, CrockPot, Coffee makers, and kettles.  Please feel free to use what you might need.  You can even grind and make your bread if you're feeling ambitious.
  • Feel free to use the roasting sticks for a campfire experience.  There are lots of them!  Just make sure they are cleaned and hung back.
  • Basement Pool Table - The pool sticks are with the caretaker. Please ask for them.  Our grandchildren used them more for swords than the adults used them to play pool.
  • Oven - It’s tricky.  On the left of the screen is a knob.  Turn it to “Power + Preheat.  The knob on the right of the screen regulates temperature.  Go back to the left knob and choose the type of heating, bake, convection, etc.

Departure Instructions

Bedding/Towels

Please leave all bedding and towels on the floor before you go.  If you have time, we would appreciate you starting the sheets.  It will help expedite preparations for our next guests.  It is helpful when you have 23 beds to make with only four washing machines.

Washing Machines

You are welcome to do laundry during your stay.  The soap and softener should be above each machine.

Garbage

Please remove ALL trash upon your departure.  Place in the large dumpster next to the covered parking by the kitchen.  If the dumpster gets full, please inform Francisco.  He will have it emptied.

Lost and Found

Please check drawers and living areas for any items that might belong to you.  We will keep anything we find for two weeks.

Dishes

Please thoroughly wash (hot soap and water) and put away your dishes in the same place you got them.
